Amazon's Customer Base In India From Tier 2 To 3 Citie
Amazon India said it had seen a twofold increase in its customer base from lower-tier cities during its holiday season.
E-commerce major Amazon India said the majority of its customers were from smaller towns during its Great Indian Festival sale.
75% of customers came from second and third-tier cities.
The spokesperson said we saw twice as many customers from Tier 2 and 3 cities compared to last year.
The company's festive season sale began on September 23 and will end before Diwali next month.
The company gave Prime members 24 hours early access to their products.
Amazon claims to have sold more than 10,000 unique products
From small businesses and startups on its platform within the first 36 hours of their holiday sale.
The company said that its Prime membership sign-ups grew by 1.9 times last year.
68% of the total new sign-ups came from tier 2 and 3 cities.
Members of Amazon's Prime service pay a fee for special services, but both paid and unpaid members contribute.
